PSA Script
For many generations women raised the children and kept the home while men worked to support their families. This idea of an ideal family unit has haunted women with the idea that they cannot succeed in the physical science community. 80% of undergraduate physical science students are male and 20% percent are female. This small percentage increases by 2%, but depletes immediately when these women begin to look for work. About 22% of women in this field of study have a doctorate degree and about 14% make up the physical science faculty. These women are often misrepresented, discriminated against, and are not put on the same level as men. Female scientists makes at least 5% less than men and are less likely to be hired. A solution to this issue would be to create an organization to promote gender equality in physical science and encourage more women to enter this field of study. A result of this solution will demonstrate that women are just as capable as men.
